The High Prosecutor's Office of the Special Region of Yogyakarta (Kejaksaan Tinggi DIY), in partnership with the Faculty of Law, Universitas Gadjah Mada (FH UGM), successfully conducted the third installment of the Datun Suluh Praja legal outreach program on Thursday, July 28, 2022. Held in person at the Tamanmartani Village Hall, the session was attended by approximately 35 village administration officials. The program featured three expert speakers: Dr. Sigid Riyanto, S.H., M.Si., and Dr. Yulkarnain Harahab, S.H., M.Si., from FH UGM, alongside Kristanti Yuni Purnawanti, S.H., M.H., representing the DIY High Prosecutor's Office.
The proceedings commenced with opening remarks from the Head of the Master of Litigation Law Program, Dr. Supriyadi, S.H., M.Hum. Further remarks were delivered by Kristanti Yuni Purnawanti, S.H., M.H., in her capacity as Assistant for Civil and State Administrative Affairs at the DIY High Prosecutor's Office, and Gandang Hardjono, the Head of Maguwoharjo Village.
The seminar featured three presentation segments. In the first session, Dr. Sigid Riyanto, S.H., M.Si., presented on Social Media and Its Relation to Criminal Law. He characterized the law as a foundational set of norms, suggesting that legal literacy should be accessible to all. Regarding digital platforms, he noted that social media functions as a legal object within Indonesia's criminal framework, stressing that its ultimate impact, whether constructive or otherwise, rests solely with the user.
The second session was led by Dr. Yulkarnain Harahab, S.H., M.Si., who spoke on National Land Law. His presentation focused specifically on the complexities of inheritance, examining various legal definitions and the specific circumstances that may legally bar an individual from receiving property.
The final segment was delivered by Kristanti Yuni Purnawanti, S.H., M.H., covering Bureaucratic Reform at the Village Level. She highlighted the necessity of enhancing public service through the improved integrity of village officials. These reforms, she argued, must begin with systemic improvements in work management, administrative procedure, and human resource development.
Following the presentations, participants engaged in a Q&A segment. Village officials actively utilized this opportunity to seek guidance on legal issues and their practical application to social challenges encountered within the community.
