About the Department of Islamic Law
The Department of Islamic Law is one of the departments within the Faculty of Law, Universitas Gadjah Mada, responsible for facilitating and managing academic studies in the field of Islamic Law. The Department’s areas of focus include Islamic Law, Islamic Family Law (including Islamic Marriage and Inheritance Law), Islamic Economic Law, and their enforcement through both litigation channels (Religious Courts) and non-litigation mechanisms. The Department also focuses on the development of academic scholarship at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels by accommodating, advancing, and examining Islamic Law as a living law within society, as well as its implementation in the context of modernization and globalization.
