The High Prosecutor's Office of the Special Region of Yogyakarta (Kejaksaan Tinggi DIY), in partnership with the Faculty of Law, Universitas Gadjah Mada (FH UGM), conducted the second installment of the Datun Suluh Praja legal outreach program on Wednesday, July 27, 2022. Held in person at the Jatimulyo Village Hall in Kulon Progo, the session was attended by approximately 40 village officials and featured three expert speakers from FH UGM: Andy Omara, S.H., M. Pub&Int.Law., Ph.D.; Dr. Mahaarum Kusuma Pertiwi, S.H., M.A., M.Phil.; and Herlambang P. Wiratraman, S.H., M.A., Ph.D.
The proceedings commenced with opening remarks from the FH UGM Vice Dean for Research, Community Service, and Information Systems, Dr. Heribertus Jaka Triyana, S.H., M.A., LL.M. Further addresses were delivered by Kristanti Yuni Purnawanti, S.H., M.H., in her capacity as Assistant for Civil and State Administrative Affairs at the DIY High Prosecutor's Office, and Anom Sucondro, the Head of Jatimulyo Village.
The assembly moved into an interactive discussion segment between the attendees and the speakers, with many participants raising inquiries concerning environmental and economic challenges. A primary concern was articulated by Moh. Jaidi, Chairman of the Jatimulyo Village Consultative Body (BPK), who underscored the community's requirement for guidance in formulating village regulations regarding springs—which often trigger resident conflicts—as well as the management of the village market, which currently lacks effective organization. These two matters hold significant importance for Jatimulyo Village, as they are intimately connected to the local community's livelihoods. Both the DIY High Prosecutor's Office and FH UGM characterized this engagement as a foundational milestone intended to bolster the Capacity Building of village administrators. Through this institutional synergy, Jatimulyo Village is expected to cultivate a greater ability to draft regulations that safeguard communal resources, specifically regarding the governance of water sources and market facilities. The gathering concluded with participants actively sharing challenges encountered within their social environment, establishing the outreach session as a productive forum for legal literacy and practical resolution of community issues.
