On Saturday (December 6, 2025), the Bar Exam (UPA) was officially held at the Faculty of Law, Gadjah Mada University (FH UGM). This UPA event is a collaboration between FH UGM—through its Center for Legal Consultation and Assistance—and the Indonesian Advocates Association Suara Advokat Indonesia (PERADI SAI) to fulfill the Tri Dharma of Higher Education.
In an effort to produce attorneys of integrity, FH UGM and PERADI SAI have been actively collaborating to organize the Specialized Professional Education for Attorneys (PKPA) since 2022. The PKPA program is designed with a certified curriculum and features competent instructors from both academic and professional backgrounds. In addition, the PKPA program organized by the UGM Faculty of Law and PERADI SAI attracts a diverse range of participants from various regions across Indonesia. Now, this collaboration is expanding with the implementation of the UPA, which assesses the capabilities of young attorney candidates as they prepare to navigate the dynamics of the professional work ecosystem. This UPA marks the inaugural event resulting from the initiative by the UGM Faculty of Law and PERADI SAI to further strengthen their partnership in cultivating attorneys with outstanding legal competencies.
The exam was attended by an observer from the National Executive Board (DPN) of PERADI SAI, namely Pitri Indrianingtyas, S.H., M.H., who serves as Vice Chair of the PERADI SAI Professional Certification Committee. The event opened with opening remarks by Prof. Dr. Heribertus Jaka Triyana, S.H., LL. M., M.A., as Vice Dean for Research, Community Service, and Information Systems at the UGM Faculty of Law, followed by a written address from Patricia Lestari, S.H., M.H., Chair of the PERADI SAI Certification Committee.
Next, participants received information regarding the exam rules, followed by the main session: the exam itself. The PERADI SAI UPA featured two types of questions—multiple-choice and essay—designed to prioritize the assessment of participants’ practical skills. This exam featured various types of legal cases reflecting real-world situations in society to hone participants’ legal reasoning skills in identifying the appropriate legal basis as a solution to a case. Finally, the UPA grading will be conducted within 4 (four) weeks by the DPN PERADI SAI. The results will be announced on the PERADI SAI website. Meanwhile, physical certificates will be mailed to each participant’s address.
This UPA represents more than just a collaboration between the UGM Faculty of Law and PERADI SAI. Its implementation also serves as a concrete manifestation of the UGM Faculty of Law’s commitment to supporting the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), specifically the “Quality Education” goal, which ensures inclusive access to education for all members of society. Furthermore, this exam aligns with the spirit of Decent Work and Economic Growth. As a form of quality education, the UPA is expected to open opportunities for participants to secure decent legal employment and contribute to Indonesia’s economic growth.
