The Deposit Insurance Corporation (LPS), in collaboration with ALSA Observer at the University of Lampung, held the first session of the LPS Legal Discussion Series (Seridikum) with the theme “Legal Liability of Perpetrators of Banking Crimes That Cause Bank Failures.” For this event, Dr. Muhammad Fatahillah Akbar, S.H., LL.M., a lecturer at the Faculty of Law, Gadjah Mada University (FH UGM), was invited as a speaker to present on “Criminal Liability of Perpetrators of Banking Crimes Leading to Bank Failures.” The event took place at the University of Lampung Auditorium on Friday (December 5, 2025) and was attended by students and legal practitioners.
FH UGM’s participation in this event through Dr. Akbar aligns with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). First, SDG 16 (Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions), as the discussion on banking crimes contributes to strengthening accountable and ethical financial institutions. Second, SDG 4 (Quality Education), given that this event aims to enhance the legal literacy of University of Lampung students through direct dialogue with expert academics. Third, SDG 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth), as banking stability supported by strong law enforcement serves as the foundation for sustainable economic growth. Through his role, Dr. Akbar demonstrated the UGM Faculty of Law’s tangible contribution to expanding legal education and promoting healthier and more sustainable governance in the financial sector.
