Dimas Bintang, a 2020 student at the UGM Faculty of Law, along with his team, held a legal outreach event on the theme “The Status of the Transfer of Land Ownership Rights under National Agrarian Law and Customary Law, as well as Procedures for Handling Inheritance Administration.” The event was held on Saturday (July 29, 2023) in the village of Tegallurung and on Sunday (July 30, 2023) in the village of Kabrokan Kulon.
The outreach materials covered the causes of land rights transfers, such as sale and purchase, exchange, gift, auction, and contribution to a company (inbreng). Dimas Bintang and his team provided an in-depth explanation of the procedures for transferring land rights, referencing Government Regulation No. 18 of 2021 on Land Registration and Regulation of the Minister of Agrarian Affairs/Head of the National Land Agency No. 16 of 2021 on Land Registration.
Furthermore, this event also discussed the role and importance of these policies in land registration following a transfer of rights. The process of inheritance—a general term referring to the transfer of land rights through inheritance—was also explained in detail. In addition, the processes involved in the sale and purchase of land were a key focus, with an emphasis on the differences in the transfer of land rights under agrarian law or national land law compared to customary law.
The event began with opening remarks by the local PKK Chairperson, followed by a presentation by Dimas Bintang and his team. The question-and-answer session provided participants with the opportunity to interact directly and gain a deeper understanding.
In addition to providing direct benefits to the community, this activity also advances the goals of quality education and justice, in line with Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) 4 and 16. This activity is part of the 2023 Student Legal Outreach Grant program, which demonstrates the commitment of UGM Law Faculty students to providing legal education to the community.
It is hoped that this activity will provide residents of Sendangsari Village and Tegallurung Hamlet with a better understanding of the status of the transfer of land rights. This legal awareness is expected to help them navigate potential changes in land ownership that may occur in the future.
