Sri Wiyanti Eddyono, S.H., LL.M.(HR), Ph.D., a lecturer at the Faculty of Law, Gadjah Mada University (FH UGM), served as a speaker at the Thematic Development Planning Meeting on Women.was organized by the Yogyakarta City Department of Women’s Empowerment, Child Protection, Population Control, and Family Planning (DP3AP2KB) on Tuesday (April 15, 2025). In this forum, Sri Wiyanti discussed topics regarding gender equality in household roles and economic independence, which are critical issues in achieving inclusive regional development. Her participation underscores FH UGM’s role as an academic institution actively supporting gender mainstreaming in public policy.
In addition to Sri Wiyanti, the Musrenbang also featured Agus Tri Haryono, S.T., M.THead of the Regional Development Planning Agency (Bappeda) of Yogyakarta City, who presented on development planning and strategic city issues. Another speaker, Suryani, S.E., M.Si, presented material on strategies for women’s involvement in addressing strategic regional issues. The combination of perspectives from academics, bureaucrats, and local activists demonstrated multi-stakeholder synergy in strengthening women’s position as key actors in development.
This forum directly supports the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 5 (Gender Equality), by affirming the role of women in both domestic and public spheres, SDG 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth) through the empowerment of women’s economic independence, and SDG 16 (Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions) by promoting inclusive participation in regional development planning. With the participation of Sri Wiyanti and the support of the Faculty of Law at UGM, this Thematic Musrenbang serves as a tangible space for academics and other stakeholders to collaborate in realizing a more just, welcoming, and sustainable City of Yogyakarta.
