UGM Faculty of Law, Through the Natural Resource Governance Studies Centre, and PT Pertamina (Persero) Launch the Inaugural Session of the Pertamina Mini Master of Law Program 2026

The Faculty of Law at Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM), through the Natural Resource Governance Studies Centre (NRGS), in partnership with PT Pertamina (Persero) via Pertamina Corporate University, held the first week of classes of the Pertamina Mini Master of Law Program 2026 at the Master of Laws (MIH) UGM Jakarta Campus. The inaugural session marked the beginning of a program set to run over the coming months.

The Pertamina Mini Master of Law Program 2026 is a legal training program designed to deepen participants' understanding of legal aspects - particularly in the fields of business and the energy industry - for participants from PT Pertamina (Persero) and its subsidiary entities. The program is held under the theme "Legal Clarity in Business and Energy Industry", with a systematic and applied learning approach.

The inaugural week's classes were held over two days - Saturday and Sunday, April 25 - 26, 2026 - divided into two parallel classes (Class A and Class B), with four lecture sessions per day running from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. WIB. In this opening week, the material covered Introduction to Legal Studies (Pengantar Ilmu Hukum) and Introduction to Indonesian Law (Pengantar Hukum Indonesia) -- providing a foundational understanding of the legal system as a whole.

The Introduction to Legal Studies module was delivered by Prof. Dr. Marsudi Triatmodjo, S.H., LL.M. and Prof. Dr. Nurhasan Ismail, S.H., M.Si., who addressed core legal concepts such as the definition of law, legal subjects and objects, legal norms, the objectives of law, and legal systems. Participants were also introduced to the dynamics of legal enforcement and legal reasoning (penemuan hukum).

The Introduction to Indonesian Law module was delivered by Prof. Andy Omara, S.H., M.Pub. & Int. Law., Ph.D. and Dr. Mahaarum Kusuma Pertiwi, S.H., M.A., M.Phil., Ph.D., who covered the Indonesian legal system, the hierarchy of legislation, general principles of law, the structure of governmental power, and the judicial system and law enforcement institutions.

As the inaugural week, these sessions served as the foundational platform for participants to understand the key legal concepts that will provide the basis for the advanced courses in subsequent weeks. Participants -- the majority of whom come from non-legal backgrounds -- demonstrated considerable enthusiasm, engaging actively in interactive discussions and raising questions that connected the material with business practice and the energy industry.

The Pertamina Mini Master of Law Program 2026 represents a concrete manifestation of synergy between the academic world and the industrial sector -- in particular, in improving human resource capacity in the fields of business law and energy. The collaboration between the UGM Faculty of Law through NRGS and PT Pertamina (Persero) is hoped to contribute to strengthening an applied and industry-relevant legal understanding.

The program also aligns with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) -- particularly SDG 4 (Quality Education), by providing high-quality education and training for professionals in the industrial sector; SDG 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth), by strengthening human resource competencies in support of sustainable economic growth; and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals), through the strategic collaboration between higher education and the business sector. Through this program, FH UGM reaffirms its role in delivering higher education that is responsive to the needs of industry while contributing to sustainable national development.
