Business Law Community (BLC) of the Faculty of Law, Universitas Gadjah Mada, in collaboration with PT Ashmore Asset Management Indonesia Tbk held a webinar entitled "Exploring How Mutual Funds Work Through Strategies and Challenges Faced by Investment Managers."his activity is part of the work program of the Capital Markets Division and the Financing and Banking Division of the BLC FH UGM, aiming to improve legal and financial literacy among students and the general public.
The event was held online via Zoom Cloud Meetings on Saturday (April 19, 2025) and featured Anil Kumar, CFA, Deputy CIO Fixed Income of PT Ashmore Asset Management Indonesia Tbk, as the keynote speaker. In his presentation, the speaker provided an in-depth explanation of mutual fund investment mechanisms, portfolio management strategies, and the challenges investment managers face in responding to market dynamics. The discussion continued with an interactive question and answer session, strengthening participants' understanding of the concept of diversification, mutual fund regulations, and strategies for dealing with market volatility.
This webinar supports the achievement of SDG 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth) emphasizing the importance of financial literacy for inclusive economic development; SDG 9 (Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure) by introducing mutual funds as an innovative and accessible financial instrument; and SDG 16 (Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions) by understanding the regulations and legal institutions governing capital markets. This activity is expected to bridge law students to understand the close relationship between business law, finance, and capital market practices. Through this webinar, BLC FH UGM provides a space for collaboration and education while supporting the creation of a young generation that is adaptive to developments in business and financial law in the global era.
