Faculty of Law UGM and DIY High Prosecutor’s Office Collaborate to Achieve SDGs through Legal Education and Village Regulation Assistance

On Monday, April 21, 2025, 10.00 WIB at the Study Center Meeting Room, the Faculty of Law at Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM), through its Legal Aid Consultation Center (PKBH), held a Coordination Meeting for the “Suluh Praja” Legal Awareness Program Phase II, alongside a Technical Coordination Meeting for the 2025 Village Regulation Formulation Assistance Program. These initiatives are part of the university’s commitment to its Tri Dharma values, particularly community service, and are conducted in collaboration with the Civil and Administrative Law Division (Datun) of the High Prosecutor’s Office of the Special Region of Yogyakarta (DIY).

This event also aligns with the Faculty’s effort to realize Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly Goal 16: Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions—by building inclusive institutional capacity—and Goal 17: Partnerships for the Goals—by strengthening cooperation between UGM Faculty of Law and law enforcement institutions, specifically the Yogyakarta High Prosecutor’s Office, along with village governments across DIY.

The coordination meeting was attended by representatives from the Faculty of Law UGM including Dr. Heribertus Jaka Triyana, S.H., LL.M., M.A., Vice Dean for Research, Community Service, and Information Systems; Dr. Airin Liemanto, S.H., LL.M., PKBH Secretary II; and PKBH part-time staff. From the Yogyakarta High Prosecutor’s Office, attendees included Fanny Widyastuti, S.H., M.H., Assistant for Civil and Administrative Law, and Dr. Putri Ayu Wulandari, S.H., M.H., Coordinator for Civil and Administrative Law, along with the Datun State Attorney team.

The Suluh Praja Phase II Coordination Meeting served as an initial preparation by PKBH and the Yogyakarta High Prosecutor’s Office to conduct legal education outreach to various villages throughout DIY. Phase II is planned to take place in 12 different villages across Sleman, Bantul, and Kulon Progo. This second phase will feature more diverse legal education themes tailored to common local issues, with a particular focus on village regulation formulation. The outreach is scheduled to begin in late May and early June and will be carried out over six days, with two villages visited each day.

In addition to the Suluh Praja meeting, a Technical Coordination Meeting was also held for the 2025 Village Regulation Formulation Assistance Program. This initiative is part of the 2025 Community Service Grant administered by PKBH to provide practical, impactful, and community-oriented legal services. Through this program, Faculty of Law UGM lecturers, in collaboration with the Yogyakarta High Prosecutor’s Office, will assist in the formulation of eight different village regulations across six villages.

The coordination meeting between PKBH and the Yogyakarta High Prosecutor’s Office was productive and resulted in concrete action steps to be implemented. This meeting demonstrates the strong synergy and collaboration between UGM Faculty of Law and the Prosecutor’s Office and shows that this synergy are running very well in providing real and beneficial outputs for the community, particularly in delivering excellent, impactful, and meaningful community legal services.
