The UGM Faculty of Law, in collaboration with the Cooperative and SME Agency of the Yogyakarta Special Region (Dinas Koperasi dan Usaha Kecil Menengah Daerah Istimewa Yogyakarta/DiskopUKM DIY), held a legal outreach session for SME operators in Yogyakarta on Friday, September 27, 2024. The session was themed "Legal Protection for SME Operators in the Yogyakarta Special Region from a Civil Law Perspective: Minimizing Legal Disputes."
The outreach formed part of the Legal Outreach Grant Program of the PKBH FH UGM. The Faculty of Law was represented by Muhammad Jibril, S.H., M.PrivateLaw., as the speaker, while DiskopUKM DIY was represented by Dra. Tatik Ratnawati, M.M., Head of the SME Division.
Muhammad Jibril presented on the law of contracts (hukum perjanjian), covering sale and purchase agreements (perjanjian jual beli), lease agreements (perjanjian sewa menyewa), loan agreements (perjanjian pinjam meminjam), and security/collateral (jaminan). Participants were then given the opportunity to discuss and consult on legal problems they commonly encounter in running their businesses. Issues raised included fiduciary security (jaminan fidusia), non-competition clauses (klausul non-kompetensi), and the legal standing of oral agreements versus formal written agreements (perjanjian lisan dan perjanjian formiil).
This outreach program is expected to provide MSME owners with a deeper understanding to support them in navigating the dynamics of running their businesses.
