Peer Counselors from the Faculty of Law UGM conducted a benchmarking visit with Teman Cerita from the UGM Faculty of Medicine, Public Health, and Nursing (FKKMK) on Tuesday (21/05/2024). benchmarking The benchmarking activity was conducted to share knowledge and experiences as peer counselors in supporting the mental health and well-being of the campus academic community. Additionally, the meeting was held to strengthen collaboration with the hope of achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly those related to Good Health and Well-being.
During the benchmarking study, the Peer Counselors from Justicia and Teman Cerita FKKMK exchanged information regarding their roles as peer counselors for their peers during their studies. Both groups also shared insights on their experiences, as well as the systems and structures involved in serving as peer counselors, with the aim of raising awareness about mental health and providing support to those in need.
This benchmarking study is expected to generate innovative programs aligned with the SDGs and the implementation of the HPU within the university, strengthen the mental well-being of the academic community, and further improve the Peer Counselor Justicia program in the future.
Through this comparative study, it is hoped that the Peer Counselor program at the UGM Faculty of Law can serve as a platform to enhance peer counseling programs and services for UGM Faculty of Law students, support the achievement of the SDGs, and improve access to quality mental health services.
