Sharing Happiness Through ALSA Charity & Social Event (CHASE) 2024

ALSA Charity & Social Event (CHASE) 2024 is a flagship program under the supervision of the External Affairs Division of ALSA Local Chapter Universitas Gadjah Mada (ALSA LC UGM). This work program represents the implementation of one of ALSA's core pillars: Socially Responsible. ALSA CHASE 2024 carries the theme "Child Wellness with Happiness". aiming to improve the well-being of children with cancer by offering a sense of hope and happiness. Additionally, it seeks to raise public awareness of the social issues surrounding the welfare of children with cancer, who are in urgent need of better educational opportunities and healthcare facilities.

The activities of ALSA CHASE 2024 began with a fundraising initiative, with proceeds donated to the Indonesian Care for Cancer Kids Foundation (YKAKI) to support their operational needs. The program continued with a Pre-Event in the form of a care campaign, conducted both offline and online via participants’ Instagram accounts. Pre-Event took place on Tuesday (7/05/2024) at the Faculty of Law, UGM. The campaign featured a mailbox-shaped structure symbolizing a house, where Faculty of Law students submitted handwritten motivational messages and words of encouragement for the children.

The next stage of ALSA CHASE 2024 was an offline visit to YKAKI Yogyakarta on Sunday (12/05/2024). YKAKI serves as a shelter for children with cancer and their parents. The offline visit was attended by seven children, their parents, two YKAKI staff members, and thirty-four ALSA LC UGM members. The visit included a beading session designed to foster interaction between the children and the organizing committee in a fun and engaging way. This session aimed to provide joy and a brief escape for the children through play and creativity. The offline visit continued with a "Letter of Hope" writing activity by the children, followed by a video screening showcasing their hopes and dreams. The event concluded with the symbolic handover of donations and a ceremony symbolizing the unification of the "House of Hope", representing ALSA's contribution to enhancing the happiness and well-being of children battling cancer at YKAKI.
