The UGM Faculty of Law Library, in collaboration with the UGM Library and Archives, held an event titled “Library Services Outreach and Digital Reference Management Training” on Tuesday (September 26, 2023). This outreach event was organized to enhance the library’s role in supporting educational and teaching activities. The event, held in Room 3.1.1 of the Faculty of Law, also served to introduce the library’s activities and services.
Two speakers participated in the event: Safirotu Khoir, Ph.D., Public Relations Coordinator for the UGM Library and Archives, and Zulfa Avidiansyah, S.I.I.P., M.A., Librarian at the UGM Faculty of Law. Safirotu Khoir presented on techniques and strategies for using the library effectively and efficiently. Zulfa Avidiansyah’s presentation covered digital reference management using tools such as Publish or Perish, Mendeley, and Zotero.
The session was held in a hybrid format and attended by a total of 85 participants, including undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral students. The speakers delivered their presentations interactively, fostering an engaging discussion atmosphere. The speakers also provided answers that refreshed the participants’ knowledge. During the training, the speakers asked participants to directly practice the digital reference management process—from searching, discovering, saving, to retrieving—using PoP and Mendeley/Zotero.
The outreach event concluded with a door prize drawing for lucky participants. It is hoped that this event will provide participants with knowledge on how to make the most of the library’s collections, information, services, and facilities, as well as enhance their digital literacy skills in accessing reference resources related to both legal and non-legal fields.
