A lecturer from the UGM Faculty of Law once again served as a speaker at a discussion forum outside the UGM campus. On Friday (December 12, 2025), Dr. Muhammad Fatahillah Akbar, S.H., LL.M., Ph.D., served as a speaker at the Coordination and Synchronization Meeting on Data Protection and Electronic Transactions Policy. This meeting was organized by the Coordinating Ministry for Political and Security Affairs. During the forum, Dr. Akbar presented a study on compulsory blocking measures under the Criminal Procedure Code (KUHAP) as well as the original intent behind the regulations on gambling and online gambling in the Criminal Code (KUHP) and the Electronic Information and Transactions Law (UU ITE). This contribution underscores the role of the UGM Faculty of Law in supporting the formulation of legal policies that are responsive to the challenges of the digital space.
The Faculty of Law, UGM’s involvement through Dr. Fatahillah Akbar aligns with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 16 (Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions), by strengthening the legal framework and fostering interagency coordination in digital law enforcement. Furthermore, this initiative also supports SDG 4 (Quality Education) through the scholarly contributions of academics aimed at enhancing the capacity and understanding of stakeholders. Through this active role, the UGM Faculty of Law demonstrates its commitment to promoting safe, fair, and sustainable governance of the digital space.
