The Faculty of Law at Gadjah Mada University (FH UGM) will host the 2025 Asian Law and Society Association (ALSA) Annual Meeting, to be held on December 11–13, 2025, at the Faculty of Law, Gadjah Mada University, Yogyakarta. This international conference, themed “Law and Justice in Asia: Embracing Diversity, Enhancing Equity,” serves as a global forum for academics, researchers, and students to discuss the dynamics of law and justice in the Asian region.
The conference was attended by approximately 100 participants from various universities and academic institutions across different countries. The academic program included 10 concurrent sessions, each featuring 4–5 papers, as well as supporting events such as a Welcome Reception, Conference Banquet, and Excursion. In addition, the ALSA Annual Meeting 2025 also featured a Young Scholars Workshop on the first day as a form of support for the development of young researchers.
The conference aligns with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 16 (Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions), by strengthening research on law, justice, and institutional governance in Asia. Additionally, this forum supports SDG 4 (Quality Education) through knowledge exchange and cross-national academic capacity building, as well as SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals) through the strengthening of international academic networks and collaboration.
Hosting the 2025 ALSA Annual Meeting at the Faculty of Law, UGM, reaffirms the university’s commitment to strengthening global academic networks and promoting the development of legal studies and a society that is inclusive, just, and sustainable.
