"The Anti-Illegal Levy Task Force (Satgas Saber Pungli) is here to eradicate illegal levies occurring in the Yogyakarta Special Region," said Almonika Cindy Fatika Sari, S.H., M.A. at the legal outreach session held on Wednesday, October 25, 2023.
This session is a collaboration between the UGM Faculty of Law and Kejati DIY. On this occasion, the outreach was held at Ngestiharjo Village, Bantul.
Alongside Almonika Cindy Fatika Sari, S.H., M.A., the session was also led by Niken Subekti Budi Utami, S.H., M.Si. and Dr. Rikardo Simarmata, S.H. All three resource persons presented on the theme of "Illegal Levies (Pungutan Liar)," an issue currently quite prevalent within local village governance. All resource persons collaborated in explaining the criminal law dimensions of illegal levy issues, while also comprehensively addressing other legal concerns raised by the Ngestiharjo Village community.
This collaboration under the Suluh Praja program is the result of a partnership between the Faculty of Law, Universitas Gadjah Mada, and Kejati DIY, ongoing for the past two years. The Suluh Praja program aims to strengthen legal outreach activities by focusing on topics chosen by grassroots communities, who often face limited access to legal information. This represents the realization of the role of higher education institutions in community service, as mandated under the Tri Dharma of Higher Education. This collaboration is also a form of commitment to advancing the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly Goal 1, No Poverty, and Goal 16, Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions.
