"Village cash land is [explicitly] not permitted to be used for residential purposes," said Dwi Haryati, S.H., M.H. at the Suluh Praja Legal Outreach session held at Potorono Village, Bantul. The session was conducted by the UGM Faculty of Law through its Legal Consultation and Assistance Centre (PKBH), in collaboration with the Yogyakarta Special Region High Prosecutor's Office, on Monday, October 23, 2023.
Alongside Dwi Haryati, S.H., M.H., the session was also led by Dr. Rr. Dinarjati Eka Puspitasari, S.H., M.Hum. Both resource persons presented on the theme of "Village Cash Land," an issue that has seen a notable rise in trend, particularly in Yogyakarta, in recent times. Both resource persons collaborated in explaining the legal dimensions of village cash land issues, and provided comprehensive answers to all the concerns raised by the Potorono Village community on the topic.
This collaborative effort under the Suluh Praja program reflects a multi-helix partnership at the UGM Faculty of Law in carrying out community service in fulfillment of the Tri Dharma of Higher Education -- a collaboration with Kejati DIY that has been running for the past two years. The Suluh Praja program also aims to strengthen legal outreach efforts by adopting a bottom-up approach to topic selection. This model is intended to deliver greater benefit to grassroots communities, who often face limited access to legal information.
This collaboration represents one form of support for the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). One of the points supported is Goal 16: Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions.
