The ongoing series of collaborative legal outreach sessions between the UGM Faculty of Law and Kejati DIY was held at Bangunjiwo Village, Bantul, on Tuesday, October 24, 2023. The session is in line with Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) No. 16: Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions.
"Illegal levies (pungli) can sometimes be equated with extortion, fraud, or corruption," said Dr. Sigid Riyanto, S.H., M.Si. at the legal outreach session conducted through the Legal Consultation and Assistance Centre (PKBH) as part of the Datun Suluh Praja program of Kejati DIY.
Dr. Sigid Riyanto, S.H., M.Si., together with Rafael Edy Bosko, S.H., M.IL., played an important role in overseeing the running of this legal outreach session. As resource persons, both presented on the theme "Illegal Levies," a topic chosen in line with the needs of Bangunjiwo Village.
This legal outreach session was attended by the Head of Bangunjiwo Village and representatives from Kejati DIY. All resource persons collaborated effectively in explaining issues relating to village fund management from a legal perspective, and provided comprehensive responses to the issues raised by the Bangunjiwo Village community.
This collaboration under the Suluh Praja program reflects FH UGM's joint effort, involving a range of parties. This collaboration has been ongoing for the past two years alongside Kejati DIY. The Suluh Praja program also aims to strengthen legal outreach activities by selecting topics based on community input -- ensuring greater benefit for grassroots communities, who often face limited access to legal information.
