Legal Education Session by Datun Suluh Praja in Bangunharjo Village, Bantul

On Thursday (October 19, 2023), the Legal Aid Consultation Center (PKBH) collaborated with the Yogyakarta Special Region High Prosecutor’s Office to conduct a legal outreach session in Bangunharjo Village, Bantul, as part of the implementation of the Yogyakarta Special Region High Prosecutor’s Office’s “Datun Suluh Praja” program.

The legal outreach session featured two speakers from the UGM Faculty of Law: Dr. Jur. Any Andjarwati, M.Jur., S.H., and Ardianto Budi Rahmawan, S.H., LL.M. The session was also attended by the Head of Bangunharjo Village and representatives from the Yogyakarta Special Region High Prosecutor’s Office. This legal outreach session addressed the issue of village communal land management, which is a major problem in Bangunharjo Village. The two speakers collaborated to explain the legal aspects of village communal land issues and comprehensively addressed all the concerns raised by the residents of Bangunharjo Village regarding the topic discussed.

This collaboration on the Suluh Praja initiative is part of an ongoing partnership between the UGM Faculty of Law and the Yogyakarta Special Region High Prosecutor’s Office that has been in place for the past two years. The Suluh Praja program embodies the UGM Faculty of Law’s multi-helix collaboration in carrying out community service in accordance with the Tri Dharma of Higher Education. This activity also supports Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) No. 11: sustainable cities and communities. Furthermore, the Suluh Praja Program aims to strengthen legal outreach activities by adopting a bottom-up approach, which undoubtedly provides greater benefits to grassroots communities with limited access to legal information.
