Datun Suluh Praja’s Legal Outreach Program Addresses the Issue of Village Communal Land

The Legal Aid Consultation Center (PKBH) once again held a legal outreach session in collaboration with the Yogyakarta Special Region High Prosecutor’s Office on Wednesday (October 18, 2023). This legal outreach session took place in Baturetno Village, Bantul Regency, as part of the implementation of the Yogyakarta Special Region High Prosecutor’s Office’s “Datun Suluh Praja” program.

The issue addressed in this session was the management of village communal land, which is a major problem in nearly all villages in the Special Region of Yogyakarta. To that end, the PKBH invited four speakers from the UGM Faculty of Law: Prof. Dr. Ari Hernawan, S.H., M.Hum. Dr. Rimawati, S.H., M.Hum., Dr. Murti Pramuwardani Dewi, S.H., M.Hum., and Dr. R.A. Antari Inaka Turingsih, S.H., M.H. The four speakers collaborated to explain the issues surrounding village communal land in Baturetno and provided comprehensive answers to all the concerns raised by community members regarding related issues. 

This collaboration in the Suluh Praja program is part of an ongoing partnership between the UGM Faculty of Law and the DIY Provincial Attorney General’s Office that has been in place for the past two years. The Suluh Praja program is a manifestation of the Faculty of Law, UGM’s multi-helix collaboration in carrying out community service in accordance with the mandate of the Tri Dharma of Higher Education. Additionally, this activity also supports Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) number 11: sustainable cities and communities.
