MIH UGM (Jakarta Campus) and the US-ASEAN Business Council Discuss Strengthening Indonesia's Cybersecurity Governance and Resilience

The US-ASEAN Business Council, in cooperation with the Master of Laws Program (Jakarta Campus), Faculty of Law, Universitas Gadjah Mada, held a roundtable discussion titled "Strengthening National Cybersecurity Governance and Resilience for Indonesia's Secure Digital Future" on Wednesday (16/9/2026)

The workshop took place from 08.00 to 14.40 WIB at The Westin Jakarta. The discussion served as an academic and professional space to broaden insights into the development of cybersecurity and the importance of strengthening national governance and resilience in facing challenges in the digital space. The activity was attended by student representatives of the MIH UGM Program (Jakarta Campus) as part of efforts to develop students' insights and expertise in the fields of Digital Law, Business and Investment Law, and Public Policy.

The theme "Strengthening National Cybersecurity Governance and Resilience for Indonesia's Secure Digital Future" places the issue of cybersecurity in the context of digital transformation and the need for governance capable of supporting the creation of a safe and resilient digital space. The discussion in this activity is also relevant to the development of digital law studies, particularly in examining the relationship between regulation, public policy, business interests, and protection within the digital ecosystem.

Through this discussion, MIH UGM students (Jakarta Campus) had the opportunity to enrich their academic perspectives while connecting legal studies with the development of cybersecurity issues that are increasingly important in practice. Interaction with various perspectives in the activity is expected to provide useful insights for research and thesis writing as well as open up opportunities for developing students' professional networks.

The collaboration between the US-ASEAN Business Council and the MIH UGM Program (Jakarta Campus), Faculty of Law, Universitas Gadjah Mada, also reflects the importance of synergy between higher education institutions and stakeholders in strengthening understanding of strategic issues in the fields of law and public policy.

This activity also supports the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 9 on Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure through strengthening understanding of cybersecurity and digital infrastructure resilience as an important part of sustainable digital transformation. The activity also contributes to SDG 16 on Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions by encouraging understanding of cybersecurity governance, regulation, and public policy that support the creation of a safe and resilient digital space. In addition, the collaboration between the US-ASEAN Business Council and the Master of Laws Program at UGM (Jakarta Campus) is in line with SDG 17 on Partnerships for the Goals through strengthening synergy between universities and business stakeholders in responding to strategic challenges in the fields of law, technology, and public policy.

Through this activity, the MIH UGM Program (Jakarta Campus) continues to encourage the development of learning that is responsive to the dynamics of law and technological development. Strengthening insights in the field of Digital Law is expected to become part of developing students' competencies in understanding the various legal issues that arise alongside economic development and digital transformation.
