Department of Civil Law Hosts Iftar Gathering to Strengthen Bonds and Prepare for the Semester Ahead

In a warm and collegial atmosphere, the Department of Civil Law at the Faculty of Law, Universitas Gadjah Mada, held a communal iftar dinner (buka puasa bersama) attended by its lecturers and part-time staff. The event took place on Wednesday, March 19, 2025, at Sentosa Seafood Restaurant in Yogyakarta. It was designed to strengthen the bonds of fellowship within the department and to create a harmonious and conducive environment for the advancement of legal scholarship.

The evening also featured a gift exchange among lecturers, which added a warm and personal touch to the occasion — a symbol of camaraderie and togetherness among departmental members, giving a deeply human dimension to what was a simple but meaningful social gathering. Beyond its social purpose, the iftar also served as a preparatory occasion for the upcoming Mid-Semester Examination (Ujian Tengah Semester/UTS) for the Even Semester. Through the discussions and interactions that took place during the event, participants were able to strengthen coordination and sharpen their collective readiness.

The event reflects the Department of Civil Law's commitment to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) — particularly SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-Being) and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals) — through the cultivation of social, mental, and academic well-being within the department community.

The activity was designed not only to build stronger social ties among departmental members, but also to create an environment that supports mental, social, and academic well-being. Those present were visibly enthusiastic and clearly enjoyed the warmth of the occasion. It is hoped that events like this will serve as a model for similar initiatives — reinforcing the values of peace and harmony within the campus community.

Through this communal iftar, the UGM Department of Civil Law hopes to continue strengthening relations among its lecturers and staff, and to contribute to the achievement of global goals for sustainable well-being and justice — while making a positive impact on the development of legal scholarship in Indonesia, and at the UGM Faculty of Law in particular.
