On Thursday, March 20, 2025, Muhammad Jibril, S.H., M.PrivateLaw, a lecturer in the Department of Civil Law, Faculty of Law, Universitas Gadjah Mada, was invited to be a speaker at the "Sansiro Bercerita" discussion forum. The forum took place at the West Corridor Staircase of the Faculty of Political and Social Sciences, Universitas Gadjah Mada. The forum was held in response to the serious challenges currently facing the education sector.
As a speaker, Jibril shared his views on the current state of democracy in Indonesia, efforts to build an inclusive, critical, and sustainable education ecosystem, and the "Pustaka Rakyat" movement's book repository system from an Indonesian legal perspective. He then presented two approaches, both from a legal perspective and from his personal perspective as an academic and researcher. On this occasion, Jibril also interjected the philosophy of democracy, particularly from the perspective of the "Polybius Cycle" theory, sparking future discussions that could potentially lead to an ideal form of government for Indonesia.
Jibril's perspective, as a speaker for "Sansiro Bercerita," aligns with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 4 on Quality Education, which aims to ensure inclusive and equitable education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all levels of society. Furthermore, SDG 16 on Peace, Justice, and Resilient Institutions is also addressed.
Innovative, literacy-based education advocacy plays a crucial role as a tool for strengthening social justice and encouraging active community participation in the democratic process. By providing access to critical reading materials, this movement not only fosters collective awareness but also strengthens the public's critical thinking in addressing socio-political challenges.
