On Monday, December 15, 2025, the Faculty of Law, Universitas Gadjah Mada (FH UGM) hosted a delegation from the Faculty of Law, Universitas Halu Oleo (FH UHO). The FH UHO delegation was led by the Vice Dean I, Dr. Handrawan, S.H., M.H., and Vice Dean III, Dr. Oheo Kaimuddin Haris, S.H., LL.M., M.Sc. They were welcomed by the FH UGM Vice Dean for Research, Community Service, and Information Systems, Prof. Dr. Heribertus Jaka Triyana, S.H., LL.M., M.A., along with the Center for Consultation and Legal Aid (PKBH) team and student representatives led by the Chairman of the Student Council (Dema Justicia), Ahwa Tajiro. The meeting was convened to formulate collaborative solutions for various strategic issues in Sulawesi.
The session began with a presentation by FH UHO regarding the real-world challenges faced by communities in Southeast Sulawesi, encompassing Human Rights (HAM), social, and environmental issues. These pressing matters prompted FH UHO and FH UGM to establish joint measures to design strategic solutions for the community.
"As academics, it is our collective moral responsibility to be present and answer the problems existing within society," stated Dr. Handrawan, S.H., M.H.
In line with this sentiment, FH UGM expressed its readiness to support FH UHO in formulating collaboration strategies, particularly by providing necessary resources through the PKBH unit. Meanwhile, Dema Justicia also committed to contributing to this collaboration through issue advocacy and critical studies. The meeting further highlighted the vital role of the media in supporting the partnership between FH UHO and FH UGM in the current technological era. As the "fifth pillar of democracy," both parties recognized that the media is capable of ensuring information transparency that drives tangible impact for the public.

This collaboration is expected to generate a strategic advocacy force capable of effectively addressing real problems arising within society, particularly on the island of Sulawesi. By integrating the roles of academics and students, this collaboration aims not only to provide legal protection for the community but also to shift the direction of public policy to prevent more extensive damage.
The existence of this collaboration between FH UHO and FH UGM in the context of community service aligns with the efforts to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), specifically Goal 13, which emphasizes climate action and disaster mitigation. This effort is realized through increasing public awareness of the environment's vital role in life. Furthermore, this initiative is relevant to SDG 16, promoting peace, justice, and strong inclusive institutions to deliver real impact for society. Finally, the collaboration supports SDG 17 by strengthening strategic partnerships to achieve excellent and sustainable goals in the future.
