A total of 21 new students from the Pertamina Business Law concentration participated in the new student orientation for the Graduate Program’s even semester of the 2025 academic year. The event was held on Friday (February 14, 2025) in person at the Master of Law (MIH) program at UGM’s Jakarta Campus. The orientation was attended by various parties, including Prof. Adrianto Dwi Nugroho, S.H., Adv.LL. M., LL.D., as Vice Dean for Academic Affairs, Student Affairs, and Cooperation; Dr. Ninik Darmini, S.H., M.Hum., as Program Chair; and Dr. Agustina Merdekawati, S.H., LL.M., as Secretary of the MIH Program.
The event began with opening remarks from Prof. Adrianto. Dr. Ninik then delivered her remarks, which also included an introduction to the UGM Faculty of Law and the UGM MIH Program at the Jakarta Campus.
Moving on to the main session, Fa Ijun Sabildin, S.Kom., explained the academic support system at the UGM MIH Program (Jakarta Campus), specifically the Simaster application designed to support the lecture process. Simaster can be accessed via a mobile app and a web browser, with a special QR code attendance feature available on the mobile app. Simaster functions as a tool for data entry and monitoring academic activities, including course registration (KRS), attendance tracking, and access to e-learning. Through its various features, students can independently manage their academic activities, ensure the smooth running of their coursework, and complete their studies on time in a well-organized and structured manner.
Next, Siti Julaeha explained the administrative procedures for official correspondence at MIH UGM (Jakarta Campus). The explanation covered various important applications, particularly at the start of a new semester. Through the application menu, students can request a deferral of tuition fees (UKT), a leave of absence, and permission to resume studies after a leave of absence. Additionally, a tuition fee refund feature is available for students who graduate within four semesters. If studies are not completed within that timeframe, students may apply for an extension of their study period. The application process is conducted online through the provided system. For further information or to address any issues encountered, students are encouraged to contact the administration office for assistance and further clarification.
Nova Indah Wijayanti, S.I.P., explained that library services at MIH UGM (Jakarta Campus) consist of the UGM Library, the UGM Faculty of Law Library, and the program-specific libraries on the Jakarta campus. Access is available through the Simaster app for borrowing books and uploading theses, as well as through LUNA for journals and Turnitin checks. The library on the 8th floor of the campus is also available for reading and research activities. In academic writing, the Chicago Style is used as the standard for citations and bibliographies.
Ahmad Kailani, S.Si, explained the SSO (Single Sign-On) account, which is the key to accessing services within the UGM environment, including SIMASTER, which facilitates academic activities. Key features such as QR codes simplify SSO access. Be sure to back up your data during graduation and take advantage of the limited hotspot access for up to three devices. Theses can be accessed on a limited basis from outside the library, while the full texts are available at the UGM Library.
Next, Dr. Ninik introduced the UGM Faculty of Law and MIH UGM (Jakarta Campus). She explained that this orientation emphasizes understanding the academic structure, regulations, and facilities such as SIMASTER.
Finally, Dr. Agustina explained that MIH UGM (Jakarta Campus) offers three concentrations: Business Law, Litigation Law, and Immigration Law. The orientation participants are enrolled in the Business Law concentration, which is offered in collaboration with PT Pertamina. This program consists of 90 sessions totaling 16 SKS, unlike regular classes, which total 48 SKS. It was also explained that students must maintain a minimum attendance rate of 75%, and make-up exams may be requested in accordance with the provisions set forth in Perdek No. 1 of 2024.
Graduation honors range from “satisfactory” to “Summa Cum Laude.” To earn the honors of “Magna Cum Laude” or “Summa Cum Laude,” students must publish a scientific journal article with a minimum Sinta 2 ranking. Students are required to be present in Yogyakarta for the graduation ceremony, thesis defense, and commencement.
Thus, this orientation serves as the first step for new students at the UGM MIH Jakarta Campus to understand the academic system, administrative services, and supporting facilities such as Simaster and the library. With discipline, commitment, and effective use of available technology, it is hoped that students will be able to complete their studies.
