LCDC Holds a Career Orientation Session for Prospective Graduates of the Fourth Semester of the 2024/2025 Academic Year as Part of Its Commitment to Career Development

On Friday (August 22, 2025), the Law Career Development Center (LCDC) at the Faculty of Law, Gadjah Mada University, successfully held an orientation session for prospective graduates of the Bachelor’s Program, Period IV of the 2024/2025 academic year. This event is a regular LCDC program held ahead of each graduation period at UGM, aimed at equipping prospective graduates with insights into the job recruitment process, career opportunities and challenges for law graduates, and strategies for success in job selection.

On this occasion, the orientation session featured the theme “From FH UGM to Your Dream Job #13: Career Opportunities for Law Graduates as In-House Counsel.” Erlangga Gaffar, S.H., served as the experienced guest speaker. The event, moderated by Umar Mubdi, S.H., M.A., proceeded smoothly. To begin, Erlangga explained the primary roles and responsibilities of an in-house counsel, followed by a presentation covering various aspects of this profession. Mr. Erlangga also outlined the workflow of an in-house counsel and the qualifications required to become one.

The participants’ enthusiasm was evident throughout the event, particularly during the question-and-answer session that concluded the orientation series. This event is not only relevant in preparing prospective graduates for the workforce but also aligns with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). This orientation program supports SDG 4 (Quality Education) by providing access to non-formal education that enhances students’ practical skills, while also contributing to SDG 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth) by building the capacity of law graduates to compete in the global job market. Furthermore, the collaboration between academics, legal practitioners, and the career center reflects the principle of SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals), where cross-sector collaboration is necessary to produce a generation of legal professionals who are outstanding, have integrity, and are competitive.
