The Faculty of Law of UGM's Department of Islamic Law, in partnership with the Sleman Religious Court, held its 7th Legal Outreach collaboration session on Friday, July 29, held online. The theme was "Principles of Inheritance Law and Their Application in Practice."
The session featured two speakers: Dr. Destri Budi Nugraheni from FH UGM and Dra. Syamsiah, M.H., from the Sleman Religious Court. Dr. Khotibul Umam, S.H., LL.M., also from FH UGM, served as moderator.
The session was divided into two presentation segments and a Q&A segment. In the first segment, the speaker explained the concept of Islamic inheritance law, outlining its eight underlying principles: inheritance triggered by death, the ijabari (mandatory/automatic transfer) principle, individual ownership, blood relation, balanced justice, bilateral relation, direct heirs versus substitute heirs, and mandatory will alongside equal treatment.
In the second segment, the speaker continued discussing Islamic inheritance law, this time focusing on five key principles: the ijabari principle, bilateral relation, individual ownership, inheritance triggered by death, and the principle of Islamic personal status. After both presentations, the session moved into a Q&A segment.
