Collaboration Between the Faculty of Law and Desamind Indonesia in Cipaku Village, Purbalingga Regency

On Friday (September 22, 2023), the UGM Faculty of Law, through its Legal Aid Consultation Center (PKBH), conducted a legal outreach program in Cipaku Village, Purbalingga Regency. This legal outreach program was carried out in collaboration with Desamind Indonesia as part of the implementation of the Tri Dharma of Higher Education and Goal 16 of the SDGs—peace, justice, and strong institutions. As a nonprofit organization focused on village development, Desamind Indonesia had previously conducted in-depth research in Cipaku Village. This research identified various legal issues stemming from a lack of legal awareness among the village community.

This legal outreach event was attended by Dr. Heribertus Jaka Triyana, S.H., LL.M., M.A., Associate Dean for Research, Community Service, and Information Systems at the UGM Faculty of Law; Sugiarto, S.Pd., M.M., Village Head of Cipaku; Dr. Dra. Dani Krisnawati, S.H., M.Hum., Chair of the PKBH at the UGM Faculty of Law; Muhammad Jibril, S.H., M.Privatelaw., Secretary of the PKBH at the UGM Faculty of Law; and Hardika Dwi Hermawan, S.Pd., M.Sc (ITE), President Director of Desamind.

This legal outreach session featured two speakers from PKBH. The first speaker, Dani Krisnawati, provided an introduction to Indonesian criminal law to raise legal awareness among the residents of Cipaku Village. She was followed by Muhammad Jibril, who discussed civil law aspects of online lending. These topics were selected to address legal issues encountered in the daily lives of Cipaku Village residents.

This collaboration with Desamind Indonesia is an effort to strengthen legal education activities by adopting a bottom-up approach to topic selection, which undoubtedly provides greater benefits to the community. It is hoped that this legal education session will serve as a concrete manifestation of the preliminary collaborative synergy between the Faculty of Law at UGM and the Regional Planning, Research, and Development Agency (Bappelitbangda) of Purbalingga Regency.
