FH UGM Hosts Workshop on Double/ Joint Degree Programs and LPDP Funding Schemes to Broaden Access to International Study

The Faculty of Law at Universitas Gadjah Mada, through the Master of Laws Program held a Workshop on Double/Joint Degree Programs: UGM Partner Universities and LPDP Funding Schemes. The workshop was organized on Friday, February 27, 2026, delivered entirely online via Zoom. It featured Prof. dr. Gandes Retno Rahayu, M.Med.Ed., Ph.D., Dr. Marco Goldoni, Herliana, S.H., M.Com.Law., Ph.D., and Dr. Agam Bagu Suryanto, S.E., M.BA., who stepped in for Dwi Larso, Ph.D. as speakers. The workshop was open to all, with participation from LLM and International Undergraduate Program students as well as students from universities across Indonesia.

The workshop covered the terms, requirements, and key differences between the double and joint degree programs available at Universitas Gadjah Mada. The first presentation was delivered by Prof. dr. Gandes Retno Rahayu, M.Med.Ed., Ph.D., who explained the joint/double degree concept in detail and helped participants understand the requirements they must fulfill to be eligible for the program.

The second session was delivered by Dr. Marco Goldoni, who provided a comprehensive overview of the programs and courses available at the University of Glasgow, along with the specific requirements students must meet to be accepted into the Glasgow program.

The presentations continued with Herliana, S.H., M.Com.Law., Ph.D. and Dr. Agam Bagu Suryanto, S.E., M.BA., covering the funding scheme requirements and the conditions students must fulfill to pursue their program under the LPDP (Indonesia Endowment Fund for Education) financing scheme — presenting the most up-to-date information in detail. The workshop also included a Q&A session, which gave participants a clearer and more inspired picture of the possibilities for continuing their education in collaboration with leading international universities.

The Double/Joint Degree Program Workshop proved to be a significant event for students looking to take advantage of the partnerships available through the Master of Laws Program — as a pathway toward education of the highest quality and the development of graduates of integrity and strong intellectual grounding. The workshop successfully disseminated comprehensive information about the double/joint degree scheme, partner universities, academic mechanisms, and available funding options to a wide audience — both within the UGM Faculty of Law and among external participants who attended and gained access to information about the LPDP funding scheme.

The event is also aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) — in particular, SDG 4 (Quality Education) which emphasizes the importance of access to high-quality education and global learning opportunities. The workshop further supports SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals), through the strengthening of international cooperation between UGM and its overseas partner universities, and by broadening students\' access to educational funding sources such as LPDP. This initiative is hoped to produce graduates of integrity and global perspective, capable of contributing meaningfully to sustainable legal development.
