The Faculty of Law of Universitas Gadjah Mada, through the Natural Resources Governance Studies (NRGS), in collaboration with PT Pertamina (Persero) through Pertamina Corporate University (PCU), continued the implementation of the 2026 Pertamina Mini Master of Laws Program, entering its seventh week of instruction. The sessions were held on Saturday and Sunday, July 18–19, 2026, at the UGM Master of Laws (MIH) Campus in Jakarta.
On Saturday, July 18, 2026, participants explored Comparative Competition Law, covering the application of prohibited practices in business competition under Law No. 5 of 1999, accompanied by case studies from Indonesia and abroad. The session also examined dominant market positions and the merger and acquisition notification system under Law No. 5 of 1999, including comparisons with practices in other jurisdictions. The material was delivered by A.M. Alfridijanta, a New York attorney and UK solicitor who also serves as an International Attorney in Houston, Texas.
On the same day, participants also received a session on Transnational Business Law, which examined anti-dumping measures, subsidies, and safeguards, complemented by discussions of relevant case studies. The session was delivered by Bagus Suksmo Djati Nur Buwono, S.H., LL.M., Managing Partner at Bagus Enrico & Partners.
The learning sessions continued on Sunday, July 19, 2026, with Arbitration and Alternative Dispute Resolution, covering arbitration practices in the energy and oil and gas industries, as well as arbitration cases involving these sectors in Indonesia and abroad. The session was delivered by Jou Samuel Hutajulu, S.H., M.H., Chairman of the Energy Dispute Arbitration Board.
The following session addressed Bankruptcy Law and Suspension of Debt Payment Obligations (PKPU), including the parties that may be declared bankrupt and a discussion of the uitvoerbaar bij voorraad principle. The session was delivered by Harvardy M. Iqbal, S.H., M.A., C.L.A., President of the Indonesian Association of Legal Auditors and Founding and Managing Partner of Harvardy Law Offices.
The implementation of the Pertamina Mini Master of Laws Program 2026 is aligned with the commitment to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 4 (Quality Education), by providing continuing education that strengthens professional competencies in corporate law, corporate governance, public finance, and capital market law. The program’s emphasis on Good Corporate Governance (GCG), legal compliance, and corporate accountability also supports SDG 16 (Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions) by promoting transparent, accountable, and integrity-based institutional governance. Furthermore, the collaboration among the Faculty of Law, Universitas Gadjah Mada, PT Pertamina (Persero), legal practitioners, and academics in delivering this program reflects the implementation of SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals) through strategic partnerships between higher education institutions and industry to enhance human capital and support sustainable development.
The seventh week of the program concluded with Post-Test 3, which was conducted to assess participants' understanding of the comprehensive range of materials presented throughout the two-day learning sessions.
