Jakarta – Faculty of Law UGM held a Inaugural Lecture and Motivational Workshop for the Master of Law freshmen batch 47 on Friday (16/08) that conducted hybrid in UGM Jakarta Campus. This event was attended by 90 students from Master of Litigation and Business Law, with the objectives to motivate the students to finish their study on-time with the best outcomes.
The event started at 08.30 with the opening remarks from Dean of Faculty of Law UGM, and continued with lecture on Gadjah Mada Values and Ideals by Dr. Aerie Sujito, S.Sos., M.Si., that emphasized on how the alumni of UGM should carry out the Pancasila values such as the concept of God, Humanity, Unity, Democracy, and Social Justice.
This Inaugural Lecture was divided into 3 sessions. On the first session, Dr. I Dewa Gede Palguna, S.H., M.Hum., from Universitas Udayana discussed about the principles of rule of law and the challenges in the application of Indonesian Electoral. The second session was the discussion with Prof. Susi Dwi Harijanti, S.H., LL.M., Ph.D., from Universitas Padjajaran, highlighted the importance of an integrity-based legal tradition and how the law should be directed to the correct political area in democratic people. The third session was closed by Dr. Nurhasan Ismail, S.H., M.S.i from UGM that discussed about the legal principles such as supremacy of law, equity before the law, and a fair legal proceeding.
The motivational workshop that guided by Prof. Dra. Kwartarini Wahyu Yuniarti, M.Med., Sc., Ph.D., brought the topic of the importance of finishing study on-time and the preparation of facing the fast-paced global world. She emphasized that the faster the students are able to adapt, more opportunities will be opened. The discussion was lively, with a question and answer session moderated by Dr. Agustina Merdekawati, SH., LL.M.
Through this Inaugural Lecture and workshop, students are expected to develop determination and optimism in facing their study period at MIH UGM.
