UGM Faculty of Law Lecturer Shares Practical Tips for SMEs on Drafting Business Contracts

As part of her commitment to supporting the development of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs/UMKM) and raising legal awareness among business owners, Alfatika Aunuriella Dini, S.H., M.Kn., Ph.D. a lecturer in the Department of Civil Law at the UGM Faculty of Law, specializing in contract law organized a legal outreach program on the theme "Practical Strategies for Drafting Business Contracts for SMEs."

The activity was part of the Legal Outreach Grant Program run by the UGM Faculty of Law's Legal Consultation and Assistance Centre (Pusat Konsultasi dan Bantuan Hukum/PKBH FH UGM). The program had two main components: an in-person outreach session and an educational podcast.

The outreach session, held on Friday, September 13, 2024, was led by Alfatika and attended primarily by local SME operators. Participants gained a thorough understanding of the basics of contract law and the importance of well-drafted business contracts in preventing future disputes. Alfatika explained the essential elements of a contract, the rights and obligations of the parties, and practical tips for avoiding legal pitfalls commonly encountered by small business owners.

While the in-person outreach session was led by Alfatika, the educational podcast featured Yuliana Fitri, founder of Aruna Creative, as its guest speaker. Aruna Creative is a fashion brand that goes beyond simply offering products, it is deeply committed to preserving traditional craftsmanship and championing sustainable fashion. Each piece combines the beauty of traditional weaving techniques with contemporary design, handcrafted by local artisans in Yogyakarta. Through the brand, Aruna Creative empowers local artisan communities while keeping Indonesia's rich cultural traditions alive. Every product is a tribute to cultural heritage and a tangible contribution to a more responsible and sustainable fashion movement.

The educational podcast, held on Friday, September 27, 2024, featured Yuliana Fitri, founder of Aruna Creative a fashion brand committed to preserving traditional craftsmanship and promoting sustainable fashion.
