Speech and Law Debate Society (SPECIALITY) FH UGM that represented by Kenley Wijaya (2021) successfully brought glory to Faculty of Law UGM in INTEGRITY Scholarship III National Debate Law Championship on Friday (2/2/2024). The delegates successfully achieved the runner up position in the competition that was held by Indrayana Centre for Government, Constitution and Society (INTEGRITY) Law Firm. This competition brought up the theme of “Politicization, Judicial, Dynasty Politics, and Neutrality of 2024 National Election”.
This prestigious competition was attended by 337 delegates from various universities. The first round of this competition was started by the qualifying round, where each delegations are required to write scientific papers and make a video presentation for 15 minutes to presentate their paper. Afterwards, only 12 delegates with the highest grade for the papers and video will pass to the top 12 round. In the top 12 round, each delegate who passes will be debating with other delegates in an elimination format until 3 finalists remain. In the final stage of the competition, 3 finalists will compete against each other as a basis for assessment to determine the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners.
Kenley Wijaya, assisted by 3 other researchers namely Hasna Rufaidah (2022), Minerva P (2023), and Letisia Ortiez A (2023) has successfully finished all the competition rounds. During the final round, each delegates have achieved the runner up position in INTEGRITY Scholarship III National Debating Championship.
This achievement represents one of the accomplishments of the Faculty of Law at UGM in advancing quality education, as point 4 of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
The success of the delegation cannot be separated from the power of God Almighty and the help of all parties starting from the research stage, debate practice, to during the competition. Finally, congratulations to the delegation for bringing honor to the alma mater of Universitas Gadjah Mada, hopefully through this achievement, the Universitas Gadjah Mada team will always shine in the following matches.
