The delegation from the Faculty of Law, Universitas Gadjah Mada (FH UGM), has once again achieved a remarkable accomplishment at the national level by securing 1st place in the English Debate category at Euphoria Edu 4.0, organized by the Health Polytechnic of the Ministry of Health Surakarta (Poltekkes Kemenkes Surakarta). The competition was conducted online via Zoom Meeting and reached its final round on Sunday (19 April 2026), with the winners announced on Friday (24 April 2026).
The FH UGM delegation consisted of Letisia Ortiez Anggriansyah (2023), Arnandito Rafaxelliano Ratifandi (2023), and Tribuna Haiqal Rio Wijaya (2023). The team demonstrated outstanding debating performance through sharp arguments, structured delivery, and comprehensive analytical skills in addressing public health issues presented in the competition.
This national-level student debate competition carried the overarching theme, “The Role of Generation Z in SDGs 2030 in the Health Pillar: Connecting the Role of Students with Global Health Goals.” Participants were required to prepare for 10 motions provided by the committee, while the motion for each round was determined randomly on the competition day using a spin wheel mechanism. The competition adopted a head-to-head (1 vs 1) format between teams from various universities across Indonesia, demanding both strong preparation and adaptability. In the निर्णng round, the FH UGM delegation debated the motion: “The Primary Focus of The National Healthcare System in 2025 Should Be Mental Health and Equitable Access to Psychological Services.”
This achievement was the result of strong teamwork and thorough preparation. The delegation successfully demonstrated a balance of critical thinking, debate strategy, and effective, persuasive English communication skills. Moreover, the competition served as a platform for students to build confidence in presenting ideas within a competitive academic forum.
The achievement of the FH UGM delegation is also closely aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The theme directly relates to SDG 3: Good Health and Well-being, particularly in promoting attention to mental health as an integral part of an inclusive healthcare system. Additionally, active student participation in academic debate reflects the implementation of SDG 4: Quality Education through the development of critical thinking, analytical, and global communication skills. Furthermore, the emphasis on equitable access to mental health services aligns with SDG 10: Reduced Inequalities, highlighting the importance of fair access to healthcare for all segments of society.
Overall, this accomplishment is not merely an academic achievement but also reflects the meaningful contribution of FH UGM students in raising strategic issues relevant to global development. It is hoped that this success will inspire other students to continue developing their capacities, think critically about public issues, and actively contribute to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals.
