From left to right — Muhammad Hamzah Al Faruq (student), Garuda Era Ruhpinesthi (student), Alfatania Sekar Ismaya (student), and Faiz Rahman, S.H., LL.M. (supervising lecturer) — the FH UGM delegation, competing as Team Purnadi Purbacaraka, won 1st Place in the Sciensational Scientific Writing Competition (LKTI) held by Universitas Indonesia on November 21, 2021.
In this national competition, organized by the Institute for Legal Studies (LK2) at Universitas Indonesia's Faculty of Law, Team Purnadi Purbacaraka — consisting of Alfatania Sekar Ismaya, Muhammad Hamzah Al Faruq, and Garuda Era Ruhpinesthi — produced a scientific paper on reforming transparency requirements and reporting mechanisms for suspected corruption in mineral and coal mining permits, aimed at creating a corruption-free, centralized licensing system. The team operates under FH UGM's Constitutional Law Society (CLS), and was supervised by Faiz Rahman, S.H., LL.M. The competition ran across two stages — document/submission judging and a final presentation round — from August through November. Held entirely online, the competition drew 22 teams from 9 universities across Indonesia.
This achievement is hoped to motivate UGM students to keep striving for accomplishments in both legal and non-legal fields — especially FH UGM students, encouraging fresh enthusiasm for competing in scientific writing competitions held by law faculties across Indonesia. The full delegation expressed deep gratitude for all the support and prayers that helped them deliver their best result for their beloved alma mater.
