A delegate from the UGM Faculty of Law, Vanya Aulia Arundati Pratama (class of 2021), brought honor to her alma mater by winning second place in the National Legal Infographics Competition at the 2023 Sriwijaya Law Fair on Saturday, October 14, 2023. The 2023 Sriwijaya Law Fair was organized by the Law Intellectual Society at the Faculty of Law, University of Sriwijaya, in a hybrid format. Specifically, the infographics competition was held entirely online.
Sriwijaya Law Fair is an annual legal competition featuring three categories: the national legal infographics competition, the national legal debate, and the legal essay competition. This event was held to commemorate the 63rd anniversary of the Faculty of Law at Sriwijaya University. The overarching theme this year was “Reformulating the Handling of Restitution for State Losses Resulting from Corruption.”
The legal infographics category consists of five sub-themes to choose from. Vanya Aulia selected the sub-theme “The Process of Restitution and Recovery of State Losses Resulting from Corruption Offenses.” This choice of theme was particularly compelling because there are several avenues that can be pursued for the restitution of state losses resulting from corruption offenses. It was not just the choice of theme, but also the color composition and underlying philosophy that influenced the judges’ evaluation.
Each competition category consists of two rounds: the preliminary round and the final round. For the legal infographics category, the preliminary round involved a visual evaluation of infographics submitted online. In this round, the judging panel reviewed the 12 submitted infographics and selected the five with the highest scores. These five infographics then became the finalists in the final round. In the final round, which was also held online, the student category finalists were asked to present their infographics, followed by a question-and-answer session with the panel of judges. The results of these presentations then served as the basis for determining the winner of this competition.
In recognition of this achievement, Vanya Aulia expressed her gratitude to everyone who supported her throughout the competition. Vanya Aulia also hopes that other students from the UGM Faculty of Law will bring honor to their alma mater both nationally and internationally.
