The issue of plagiarism in academia is no longer just a myth; there are many cases of plagiarism in various forms—such as in journals, theses, class assignments, and so on—committed by people from all walks of life, ranging from professors to students themselves. To address this issue, five law students from the Graduate Program in Political Science at UGM—Ade Yulfianto, Ahmad Yani, Beckham Podung, Fayasy Failaq, and Mario Agritama—collaborated with the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK RI) as part of the 2023 Campus Integrity Festival (CIFest) to initiate the creation of the UGM Anti-Plagiarism Cafeteria.
The non-plagiarism cafeteria program is one of 20 finalists selected for the 2023 CIFest program organized by the KPK. In addition, there are two flagship programs under the anti-plagiarism cafeteria initiative: SIPINTER (Integrated Turnitin Checking System), which aims to prevent plagiarism—particularly among UGM students in their daily assignments—by encouraging the use of the Turnitin app by every student; and SIKOPAT (Turnitin Paraphrasing Consultation System), which aims to provide paraphrasing guidance to help students avoid plagiarism. This program is scheduled to be implemented in phases from July through October 2023. It is hoped that with the “Non-Plagiarism Canteen,” students will be better equipped to avoid plagiarism and uphold academic integrity on campus.
