UGM Law School Delegation Wins First Place at the 2023 Unesa Law Fair

A delegation from the UGM Faculty of Law, led by Berlian Widya Tama, successfully brought honor to their alma mater in the Legal Research Paper category of the UNESA Law Fair 2023 on Tuesday, August 1. In the competition, held at the Faculty of Social Sciences and Law at Surabaya State University, the delegation won first place among the top three participants.

The UNESA Law Fair is an annual legal competition consisting of two categories: legal debate and legal research papers. This competition is organized by the UNESA Law Student Association and the UNESA Department of Law to commemorate the Department of Law’s anniversary. This year’s theme was “The Role of Freedom of Expression in Building a Democratic Society.”

The legal research paper category consists of two divisions: high school and university. Each division consists of two rounds: the preliminary round and the final round. The preliminary round involves the screening of legal research papers submitted online. In this round, the 50 submitted papers will be screened using a knockout system, leaving the three delegations with the highest scores. These three teams will then advance as finalists to the final round.

The finalists in the university category are teams from Gadjah Mada University, the University of Indonesia, and Muhammadiyah University of Malang. In the final round, the finalists are required to present their research papers and participate in an in-person question-and-answer session with the panel of judges. The results of these presentations will serve as the basis for determining the winner of this competition.

In recognition of this achievement, the delegation expressed gratitude to all parties who provided support throughout the competition. The delegation also hopes that other students from the UGM Faculty of Law will continue to bring honor to their alma mater both nationally and internationally.
