Lecturer from Department of Islamic Law Faculty of Law UGM Attended as a Speaker in Academic Development and Curriculum Guide Workshop for Doctor of Sharia Study in Faculty of Sharia and Law UIN Sunan Kalijaga

Doctor of Sharia Study Faculty of Sharia and Law UIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta held a Study Program Development Workshop on Tuesday (13/8/2024) and took place in Zaraa Room 3, Floor 9, Gran Rohan Hotel, Yogyakarta. The purpose of this workshop was to review the Academic Guidelines and Curriculum of the Doctoral Program in Sharia. Dr. Khotibul Umam, S.H., LL.M., a lecturer in the Department of Islamic Law and Secretary of the Doctoral Program in Law, Faculty of Law, Gadjah Mada University, served as a special resource person. The event was attended by the Head of the Faculty of Sharia and Law, UIN Sunan Kalijaga, lecturers, students, alumni, and stakeholders of the Doctoral Program in Sharia.

On that occasion, Dr. Khotibul Umam presented material on Curriculum Development and Academic Guidelines in the Doctoral Program in Law, Faculty of Law, UGM. The material covered the legal basis for curriculum development, review experience, relevant documents after curriculum development, and an overview of academic guidebooks. Comprehensively, Dr. Khotibul Umam also emphasized the important substance of Permendikbud-Ristek Number 53 of 2023 concerning Quality Assurance in Higher Education. Furthermore, the regulation stipulates that doctoral programs must at least master the scientific philosophy of certain fields of knowledge and skills, as well as knowledge and technology through research or the creation of original and tested works. 

In the workshop, Dr. Khotibul Umam also had the opportunity to convey several matters related to the dynamics of Islamic law in the realm of positive law development in Indonesia. The discussion forum was attended by all workshop participants enthusiastically, especially when Dr. Khotibul Umam shared the experience of the Doctoral Program in Law, Faculty of Law, UGM, in developing academic guidelines and curriculum along with the accompanying dynamics. The atmosphere became more lively when the question and answer session was opened, participants asked about various challenges and obstacles experienced in the process of developing the curriculum and academic guidelines. Dr. Khotibul Umam shared strategies that can be done in overcoming various challenges that arise according to his experience in developing the curriculum in the Doctoral Program in Law, Faculty of Law, UGM. In addition to enhancing cooperation between universities, this kind of activity is in line with the 16th point of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), namely peace, justice, and strong institutions.
