KSSK Secretariat and FH UGM Hold Webinar on Financial System Crisis Prevention and Management

The Secretariat of the Financial System Stability Committee (KSSK), in collaboration with the Faculty of Law, Universitas Gadjah Mada (FH UGM), organized a webinar entitled “Dissemination of Law No. 9 of 2016 on the Prevention and Management of Financial System Crises: Indonesia’s Financial System and the Policy Framework for Preventing and Managing Financial System Crises” on Tuesday, April 13, 2021. The event was conducted virtually from 9:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. (WIB) via Zoom Webinar and was attended by 230 participants.

The outreach program, conducted with various stakeholders, students, academics, and practitioners, regarding the PPKSK Law, aims to ensure optimal implementation of the a quo law. Furthermore, this activity is expected to introduce the role of the KSSK Secretariat and broaden participants' perspectives on the conditions and risks related to financial system stability, along with the challenges they will face in the future.

The event featured three distinguished speakers: Prof. Dr. Nindyo Pramono, S.H., M.S., Professor of Business Law at FH UGM; Abdurohman, S.E., Ph.D., Director of Financial System Stability Assessment and Policy at the KSSK Secretariat, and Dr. Ihda Muktiyanto, S.E., M.Sc., Director of Risk Management and Legal Affairs at the KSSK Secretariat. The session was moderated by Bob Arfan, S.H., LL.M., Head of the Legal Division of the KSSK Secretariat.

Before the presentation sessions, welcoming remarks were delivered by Prof. Dr. Sigit Riyanto, S.H., LL.M., Dean of FH UGM, and Arif Baharudin, S.E., M.B.A., C.A., Secretary of the Financial System Stability Committee Secretariat.

The first presentation, delivered by Prof. Nindyo Pramono, was entitled “Dissemination of Law No. 9 of 2016 on the Prevention and Management of Financial System Crises.” In his presentation, he discussed potential future challenges facing the financial sector, Indonesia’s experience in overcoming previous financial crises, and the establishment of the KSSK Secretariat alongside the regulatory development of the PPKSK framework.

The second presentation was delivered by Abdurohman, S.E., Ph.D., under the title “The COVID-19 Pandemic: Policy Responses and Indonesia’s Macro-Financial Performance.” He explained the government’s policy responses to the economic challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic throughout 2020 and outlined the key challenges facing Indonesia’s economic recovery efforts.

The final presentation was delivered by Dr. Ihda Muktiyanto, S.E., M.Sc., on “The Policy Framework for the Prevention and Management of Financial System Crises.” His presentation covered the background and substance of the PPKSK legislation, the regulatory framework governing financial institutions and supervisory authorities in addressing financial crises, as well as the roles and authorities of the KSSK in maintaining financial system stability.

Following the presentations, participants engaged in an interactive question-and-answer session, during which the speakers addressed various issues concerning financial stability, crisis management, and regulatory policy. The webinar concluded with a virtual group photo session.
