The Master’s Program in Notarial Studies at the Faculty of Law, Gadjah Mada University, successfully held a workshop on thesis writing on Tuesday (August 19, 2025). The event, which took place in person in Room III.1.1 of the UGM Faculty of Law, was organized for students in the 2024 cohort of the Master’s Program in Notarial Studies at the UGM Faculty of Law.
The workshop aimed to explore techniques and strategies for writing high-quality theses. The keynote speaker was Dr. Destri Budi Nugraheni, S.H., M.S.I., who also serves as the Chair of the Master’s Program in Notarial Law at the UGM Faculty of Law. She thoroughly discussed the thesis writing process in the Master’s Program in Notarial Law, ranging from administrative requirements to the thesis defense stage. In her presentation, Dr. Destri explained the administrative requirements, including the minimum GPA for students who will undertake thesis writing. In addition, she also outlined the mechanism for proposing a thesis title, the required document format, and the process of discussing and revising the title with the Program Chair until official approval is obtained through a letter of request for a thesis advisor. Furthermore, the material included an explanation of the relevance of the thesis topic to the field of notarial studies, the importance of proper citations, and the requirement to submit the thesis to an accredited national journal.
This workshop is a concrete manifestation of the commitment of the Master’s Program in Notarial Studies at the Faculty of Law, UGM, to improving the quality of research and thesis writing—which are academic responsibilities of students in completing their studies—through an understanding of the thesis writing process, ranging from administrative matters to substantive issues. This event was also held to support Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 4: quality education.
