After winning the Champion title at the national round of the "16th Indonesian National Round of the International Humanitarian Law Moot Court Competition 2021," Universitas Gadjah Mada's team advanced to compete in "The 20th Red Cross International Humanitarian Law (IHL) Moot 2022 Hong Kong," organized by the Hong Kong ICRC from March 9–13, 2022. This year's competition centered on a hypothetical case concerning the liability of a technology company CEO regarding the procurement of technology supplied to a government, technology intended to (1) confine civilians to their homes, and (2) help soldiers distinguish civilians from combatants within small community groups, but which instead ended up being used against a much larger population, resulting in civilian casualties.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Hong Kong Red Cross (HKRC) and the ICRC's Beijing Delegation decided to hold the competition online, across two stages: written memorials and virtual oral hearings. A total of 24 teams took part, having each qualified through their respective countries' national rounds. This year, UGM's team consisted of second-year law students Dylan Jesse Andrian (Head of Delegation), Aida Lathifa O., Arya Yudhistira Darmawan, Talitha Candrakirana, and Cecillia Vinny Kusuma Wardani (Manager), along with third-year law students Mettio Hario Basara and Astrid Khairunnisa Suhendar (Consul). After more than seven months of preparation starting in April, FH UGM's team secured Runner-up honors at "The 20th Red Cross International Humanitarian Law (IHL) Moot 2022 Hong Kong," with Dylan Jesse Andrian also named Best Mooter. The achievement reflected the hard work the delegation put into the competition.
