The Excitement of the Justicia Competition: Tug-of-War in Celebration of the 79th Anniversary of the UGM Faculty of Law

To commemorate its 79th anniversary, the Faculty of Law at Gadjah Mada University (FH UGM) held the “Justicia: Tug-of-War Competition” on Friday (February 14, 2025). The competition took place on the grass field in front of Building B at FH UGM and was participated in by various teams consisting of students, faculty members, educational support staff, and staff from the FH UGM Student Affairs Office.

This tug-of-war competition was an event filled with enthusiasm and camaraderie, where participants had to work together to demonstrate their strength and best strategies. The competition relied not only on physical strength but also on team coordination, effective communication, and well-thought-out strategies.

The following is the list of winners in this year’s tug-of-war competition:

Men’s Category:

  • 1st Place: SKKK Team (Muji, Irzam, Nurkhalis, Khusnan, Wahzudi, Sunarto, Wiyatno)
  • 2nd Place: Student Team (Wildan, Lukas, Arkan, Sahl, Adet, Khotibul, Hindya)
  • 3rd Place: Student Team (Arthur, Arka, Thaariq, Akhsan, Erik, Ronald, Teguh)

Kategori Putri:

  • 1st Place: Teaching Staff Team (Dwi Wuryanti, Arian Putri, Ernawati, Elsa Yulistya, Handaru Arum, Rini, Arini)
  • 2nd Place: Student Team (Zahra, Hukma, Ekya, Kanaya, Intan, Larasati, Laila)
  • 3rd Place: Student Team (Fransisca, Kun Kus, Endah Y, Nova, Prapti, Roheni, Endah N)

This competition was not only intended to enliven the UGM Faculty of Law’s anniversary celebrations but also to strengthen the values of togetherness, teamwork, and sportsmanship on campus. Additionally, this tug-of-war competition supports the achievement of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) 3 and 4.

SDG 3, which focuses on health and well-being, is highly relevant to this event, as sports and physical activities like tug-of-war can improve physical fitness, reduce stress, and strengthen participants’ mental and physical health. Meanwhile, SDG 4, which emphasizes quality education, is also reflected in this competition, where participants learn about cooperation, effective communication, and strategies for collectively overcoming challenges.

Through the “Justicia: Tug-of-War Competition,” the UGM Faculty of Law not only provides entertainment for the academic community but also offers a valuable experience in fostering solidarity and improving the physical and mental health of all participants. This competition serves as a symbol of the spirit of unity and cooperation that the UGM Faculty of Law continues to uphold in creating a dynamic and inspiring academic environment.
