The Faculty of Law, Universitas Gadjah Mada (FH UGM), held its 72nd Dies Natalis Open Senate Meeting and the inauguration of the Board of the Keluarga Alumni Hukum Gadjah Mada (KAHGAMA) on Saturday, 17 February 2018, at the University Club, Universitas Gadjah Mada. The event opened with a report from the Dean, Prof. Dr. Sigit Riyanto, S.H., LL.M. In his report, Prof. Sigit highlighted FH UGM’s latest achievements, including the S-1 Law Study Program’s “A” accreditation from the National Accreditation Board, Quality Assessment certification from the ASEAN University Network, and various achievements by students and faculty members. He also outlined recent developments at FH UGM, including the planned redesign of the faculty’s buildings from 2017 to 2021, involving the construction of Buildings A, B, C, and D to replace Building I, Building II East Wing, Building II North Wing, and Building VII.
The event continued with a scientific oration delivered by Prof. Dr. Saldi Isra, S.H., M.P.A. Prof. Saldi presented a paper entitled “Asymmetric Decentralization in Indonesia.” Indonesia is one of the countries that recognizes and implements asymmetric decentralization in managing central–regional relations. According to Prof. Saldi, the grand design of asymmetric decentralization must strengthen central–regional relations within the framework of the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia. At the same time, flexibility in the selection and appointment of regional heads must continue to uphold the democratic values enshrined in the 1945 Constitution of the Republic of Indonesia.
On 3 November 2017, KAHGAMA was formally established by alumni working and contributing in various fields, including education, law enforcement, and other sectors. The Open Senate Meeting also marked the inauguration of the KAHGAMA Board, chaired by Prof. Dr. Otto Hasibuan, S.H. (Class of 1975), with four vice chairs: Muhammad Ali, S.H. (Class of 1981), Suryantoro Waluyo, S.H., M.P.M. (Class of 1986), Yohanes Handoyo Budhisedjati, S.H. (Class of 1975), and Dr. Mailinda Eka Yuniza, S.H., LL.M. (Class of 2001). – SIP
