The Master’s Program in Litigation Law at the Faculty of Law, UGM, Holds an Orientation and Preparatory Session for New Students for the 2025/2026 Academic Year

The Master’s Program in Litigation Law at the Faculty of Law, Gadjah Mada University (FH UGM), held a program introduction and orientation for new students on Friday (August 15, 2025), as part of the series of Inaugural Lectures for the UGM Faculty of Law Graduate Program for the 2025/2026 academic year.

This year’s inaugural lecture series focused on the theme “Exploring the Legal Education Curriculum to Foster Legal Professionals of Integrity in the Era of Artificial Intelligence” and was held in two sessions. The morning session (8:30–11:30 a.m. WIB) consisted of orientation sessions led by each academic program, while the afternoon session (1:00–4:30 p.m. WIB) featured a general lecture for all new graduate students at the UGM Faculty of Law.

The orientation for students in the Master of Law in Litigation program took place during the morning session from 08:30–11:30 WIB in Room 3.1.3 of Building III at the UGM Faculty of Law, and was mandatory for all new students in the Master of Law in Litigation program. The primary objective of this event was to provide a comprehensive understanding of the learning system, academic structure, and the direction of academic development that students will pursue during their studies.

The orientation session was led by the Chair of the Master’s Program in Litigation Law, Dr. Supriyadi, S.H., M.Hum., who explained various important aspects of the program. The presentation covered, among other things: Graduate Learning Outcomes (GLOs), teaching methods, the academic timeline and class schedule, curriculum structure, thesis examination stages, and the academic evaluation system, as outlined in the Academic Handbook.

Student response to this event was very positive. Their enthusiasm was evident in their active participation in asking questions and offering feedback throughout the session.

In addition to program administrators, the event also featured representatives from the Master of Law Student Association (KMMH FH UGM), who introduced their organization to the new students. This organization serves as a platform for developing interests, aspirations, and academic collaboration at the graduate level.

This orientation program is an integral part of the efforts by the Master’s Program in Litigation Law at the Faculty of Law, UGM, to improve the quality of education and prepare graduates who are not only academically competent but also possess high integrity.

Furthermore, this program also supports the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). This orientation supports SDG 4 (Quality Education) by providing access to inclusive and high-quality legal education, as well as SDG 16 (Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions) by emphasizing integrity, justice, and professionalism for aspiring litigation lawyers. Furthermore, through the active role of student organizations, this event also reflects support for SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals) by fostering collaboration and synergy among graduate students.
