The Master’s Program in Notarial Law at the Faculty of Law, UGM, Conducts a Curriculum Review to Improve the Quality of Education

The Master’s Program in Notarial Studies at the UGM Faculty of Law successfully concluded its Focus Group Discussion (FGD) on the curriculum review for the Master’s Program in Notarial Studies on Wednesday (February 5, 2025) and Saturday (February 8, 2025). The target participants for these two FGD sessions differed. On Wednesday, the FGD participants consisted of faculty members and practicing instructors, and the session was held in-person. Meanwhile, on Saturday, the participants included alumni, current students, and employers of graduates, and the session was held in a hybrid format.

Some of the employers of graduates who attended this FGD included representatives from KANOGAMA, the DIY Regional Chapters of INI and IPPAT, the DIY Provincial Office of the National Land Agency (BPN), the DIY Regional Office of the Ministry of Law, the Yogyakarta City Land Office, the Sleman Regency Land Office, the Bantul Regency Land Office, the Gunung Kidul Regency Land Office, and the Kulonprogo Regency Land Office. Meanwhile, the alumni in attendance included representatives working as academics, judges, prosecutors, and practitioners at the Ministry of Agrarian Affairs and Spatial Planning/National Land Agency, among others.

Curriculum review is a mandatory activity that must be conducted at least once every four years by each academic program. The purpose is to align with applicable regulations and accommodate legal needs that continue to evolve over time. In light of this, as the primary basis for this FGD, the Master’s Program in Notarial Studies has drafted the latest curriculum plan, which is scheduled to be implemented starting in the 2025/2026 academic year.

As an introduction and opening remarks, Dr. Destri Budi Nugraheni, S.H., M.S.I., Head of the Master’s Program in Notarial Studies at the Faculty of Law, UGM, explained the basis for drafting the latest curriculum document along with the key differences from the previous curriculum. Participants were then given time to share their feedback, suggestions, and questions regarding the draft curriculum document. The FGD session was highly interactive. Participants actively provided valuable feedback and input for the development of the Master’s in Notarial Studies curriculum, both in-person and online.

All feedback provided will be taken into account to refine the curriculum document currently being drafted. The Master’s Program in Notarial Studies at the UGM Faculty of Law will, of course, review all of this feedback in order to produce a curriculum document that is relevant and aligned with efforts to improve the quality of education, in line with the program’s commitment to implementing Goal 4 of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
