Suluh Praja Legal Counselling in Ngalang Subdistrict : Promotes Legal Awareness and Sustainable Development

Ngalang Subdistrict in Gunung Kidul recently hosted the Suluh Praja Legal Counselling Program on Wednesday, February 28, 2024. The event was designed to deepen community understanding of the law, particularly around land rights, while also introducing residents to the functions of the Attorney General's Civil and State Administrative Division (Datun Kejaksaan) and the Suluh Praja Information System.

The program opened with a welcoming address from Ngalang Village Head, Suharyanto, who stressed the importance of active public participation in building legal literacy as a foundation for sustainable development.

"Communicating and collaborating with institutions such as the Yogyakarta Special Region High Prosecutor's Office is exactly the kind of step we need to strengthen legal understanding in our community," Surhayanto said.

In partnership with the Yogyakarta Special Region High Prosecutor's Office (Kejaksaan Tinggi DIY), Retna Wulaningsih and her team delivered a comprehensive presentation on the core duties and functions of the Attorney General's Civil and State Administrative Division (Datun Kejaksaan), alongside an overview of the Suluh Praja Information System. A platform that facilitates public access to legal consultation services.

The session's highlight came from Rafael Edy Bosko, S.H., M.I.L., who gave an engaging presentation on land law. He clearly outlined three key principles governing land ownership under Indonesian law: how land should be properly utilized, which land rights are legally recognized, and what restrictions landowners are obligated to observe.

The event also reaffirmed the community's commitment to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly the 16th point on SDG (Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions), by ensuring equal legal protection for all individuals, and the 11th point on SDG (Sustainable Cities and Communities), by promoting land management in line with spatial planning regulations.

Through initiatives like this, it is hoped that communities will grow more aware of the value of legal literacy and play an active role in driving their villages toward sustainable progress.
