On Monday (October 20, 2025), the UGM Faculty of Law, through its Legal Aid Consultation Center (PKBH), in collaboration with the Yogyakarta Special Region High Prosecutor’s Office, successfully held a “Suluh Praja” legal outreach event at the Kedungsari Village Office in Pengasih Subdistrict, Kulon Progo Regency, Yogyakarta Special Region. This legal outreach program aimed to provide legal insights and knowledge to the participants—village officials and the surrounding community—regarding common legal issues. This edition of “Suluh Praja” focused on the theme “Inheritance Law, Land Use Agreements, and Taxes for MSMEs” to provide legal insights regarding the importance of understanding inheritance distribution in accordance with applicable law, aspects of land use agreements, and the significance of tax compliance for MSMEs.
The event began at 10:00 a.m. WIB with a group singing of the national anthem, “Indonesia Raya,” followed by opening remarks by Sukardi, the Head of the Kedungsari Village. The event continued with a presentation by a representative from the DIY High Prosecutor’s Office’s Civil and Administrative Law Division (Datun), who discussed the duties, responsibilities, and functions of the civil and administrative law division within the Indonesian Attorney General’s Office.
Next, the legal education session was led by three guest lecturers from the UGM Faculty of Law: Dr. Arvie Johan, S.H., M.Hum., who presented on “Taxes for MSMEs” to provide knowledge regarding income tax obligations for MSME operators. The second presentation was delivered by Dr. Jur. Any Andjarwati, S.H., M.Jur., who addressed the topic “Use of Village Land” to provide legal insights regarding the use of village land in accordance with the latest legislation, namely Yogyakarta Special Region Governor Regulation No. 24 of 2024 on the Utilization of Village Land. The final presentation was delivered by Dr. Rimawati, S.H., M.Hum., from the Department of Customary Law, who addressed the topic “Inheritance Law” to provide insights into the procedures for the distribution of inherited assets in accordance with the legal principles applicable in Indonesia. All speakers—both from the DIY Provincial Attorney General’s Office and the three UGM Faculty of Law professors—actively engaged in a question-and-answer session with the village officials and community members in attendance. The majority of questions addressed issues related to land use regulations, inheritance matters, and taxation-related issues.
The presentations by all the speakers were delivered in an interactive and engaging manner, facilitating productive discussions. The lecturers also answered participants’ questions clearly and offered practical solutions. It is hoped that this legal outreach program will support SDG Goal 16—to promote peace, justice, and strong institutions, starting at the village government level—and strengthen partnerships to achieve better outcomes in line with SDG Goal 17.
