On Thursday, July 29, FH UGM partnered with UMKM JOOSS, the Karanganyar Regency Office of Trade, Labor, Cooperatives, and MSMEs (Dinas Perdagangan Tenaga Kerja Koperasi dan UKM) to hold a workshop themed "Business Legality and Legal Protection Assistance for MSME Actors." The workshop featured three speakers, all lecturers from FH UGM: Dwi Haryati, S.H., M.Hum.; Dr. Hariyanto, S.H., M.Kn.; and Dr. Harry Purwanto, S.H., M.Hum.
The event was also enlivened by the presence of the Head of the Karanganyar Regency Office of Trade, Labor, Cooperatives, and MSMEs, along with the Chairman of UMKM JOOSS. In addition to the legal outreach workshop, the event included the signing of an MoU between FH UGM — represented by Dr. Harry Purwanto, S.H., M.Hum. — and the UMKM JOOSS community.
Attendees included MSME business owners ranging from newcomers just starting out to more experienced entrepreneurs. Despite this range, participants showed strong enthusiasm, evident during the Q&A session between attendees and speakers. Many participants raised real-world issues they'd encountered, such as breach-of-contract lawsuits, rejected trademark registrations, trade secret concerns, licensing procedures, and more.
